These terms are the agreement between your church and PewHQ (“we”, “us”) for the use of PewHQ. By creating an account or using the service, your church agrees to them.
PewHQ is church management software provided over the internet: membership records, groups, giving, check-in, communication, a member app and a church website, along with whatever else we’ve built by the time you read this. We’ll provide it with reasonable care and skill.
We add and improve features continuously. We can also change or withdraw a feature — if we withdraw something your church actively relies on, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out of it.
PewHQ is in early access. It is offered as it is, without a formal uptime guarantee. We don’t promise it will never be unavailable or never contain a fault. Where the law gives you rights that can’t be excluded, nothing here takes them away.
Everything your church puts into PewHQ remains your church’s. We claim no ownership of it. We hold it to run the service for you, as described in our privacy policy, and we handle it as described on our security page.
You can export all of it at any time, in standard formats, without asking us and without a fee. That is a deliberate commitment, not a courtesy: software that holds your data hostage is bad for churches, and we don’t intend to compete that way.
Subscription fees are shown on our pricing page and billed in advance for the period you choose. Fees exclude any applicable taxes. If a payment fails we’ll tell you and give you a chance to fix it before anything is restricted.
Your congregation’s giving does not pass through us. Each church connects its own Stripe account; gifts are charged on that account and paid out by Stripe directly to your bank. We are not holding, banking, or transmitting your offering, and we cannot withhold it. Your use of Stripe is also governed by Stripe’s own agreement with you, and Stripe’s processing fees are theirs, not ours.
Producing correct giving statements and meeting your own tax and reporting obligations is your church’s responsibility. PewHQ gives you the records and the tools; we’re not your accountant and this isn’t tax advice.

If something here is being abused in a way that puts other churches or the service at risk, we may suspend the account. We’ll tell you why and, where we reasonably can, give you a chance to put it right first.
Some features draft text or answer questions using an AI model. AI output can be wrong or misleading. It is a draft for a person to check — review anything it produces before you send it to your congregation or rely on it for a decision. AI in PewHQ never writes to your records and never moves money. What is sent to the AI provider is set out on the security page.
The PewHQ software, design and brand are ours and stay ours; these terms grant your church the right to use the service, nothing more. If you send us feedback or feature ideas, we may act on them freely — and we hope you send plenty.
To the extent the law allows: neither side is liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data beyond what these terms already require of us. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to what your church paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t legally be limited — such as our own fraud, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Your church can stop using PewHQ at any time and cancel from your settings. You won’t be charged for periods after the one you’ve paid for; we don’t refund the current period unless we’ve failed to provide the service.
We can end the agreement if your church materially breaches these terms and doesn’t fix it within 30 days of us asking, or immediately in the case of serious abuse or unlawful use.
Either way, export your data before you go — it stays available to you throughout your notice period. Tell us when you’re done and we’ll delete it; otherwise we remove it within 90 days of the account closing.
If your church has a text-messaging number through us, note that numbers are released after a grace period once texting stops. A released number can’t be recovered, so tell us if you want to keep it.
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your church, we’ll give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use PewHQ after that means you accept it. If you don’t, you can cancel.
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which PewHQ maintains its principal place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before starting formal proceedings, please email us — nearly everything is better resolved by a conversation.
